So...after purchasing an 18 acre farm in San Diego county and putting in a lot of back-breaking but delightful hours planting trees, running irrigation, pulling weeds, digging holes, fixing fence, raking, mowing, planting veggies, hauling rocks, fighting gophers, and chasing ground squirrels...
we have decided to start a CSA (community supported agriculture) in 2010.
We are looking for a small number of members to join us and share in the fun and good health of eating fresh, organic, local farm raised veggies, fruits, and herbs.
We will be starting out small, and expanding each year as we get a feel for the demand in the community.

For those of you who are not familiar with the concept of a CSA, members purchase a "share" in the crops from a farm. You pay a set fee in advance for a box of whatever crops are currently available from the farm, throughout the growing season. Produce shares are available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. You get a plentiful amount of whatever is ripe on the farm at the time. Members also agree to share in the risks with the farmer. Vegetables could be limited if there is severe damage from a force of nature, crop failure due to bug infestation, blight, etc. The farmer always try's to plant enough variety to ensure there is an adequate amount of produce to go around even if there are some problems.

We are looking for members early, so we can get a feel for what you would enjoy to eat, and plan out planting and growing things that our members actually like. We are very dedicated to growing everything organically and gardening around the wildlife. We guarantee that all the produce you receive from us will be fresh and organic and grown with the utmost care.

We will have a wider selection of produce in the next couple of years, as we have just planted a good sized orchard, and are getting ready to put in a berry patch, Kiwi vines, grapes, and lots of other things that take a few years to start producing. CSA membership will be limited, you may have to go on a waiting list for the following year.

We are very excited to put our land, gardening skills, and desire to eat and provide fresh, organic food to a good use in San Diego County, and what better than feeding a community locally grown fresh food.

If you are interested in becoming a member of our CSA, please contact Iris at (858) 449-4843 or
Email: primevalgardens@gmail.com.

Produce will be available for pickup at our farm in Potrero, or at a drop off location on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
